New Brunswick - Safe, Fresh
and Friendly |
We are the largest of Canada’s East Coast provinces, but small
enough to offer the best of all possible worlds. We have fresh
air and magnificent wilderness landscapes. Our communities
are safe and our people are open and accepting. Our seasons
offer a rich panorama of color and change with outdoor and
indoor activities to satisfy every interest.
Our ethnic diversity reflects the best of Acadian, Gaelic, Chinese,
African and other cultures to create a colorful tapestry of world
community.
|
Why New Brunswick ? |
We have the best high school graduation rate in Canada - a hefty 86% - and every one of our
schools has broadband Internet. Being the country’s only province with bilingualism built
right into the Canadian Constitution, we’ve built a dynamic world-class reputation for
language learning. Our cost of living is lower than most of Canada, and tuition fees are
competitive without sacrificing quality of education.
With a solid foundation in building global relationships, New Brunswick’s International
Student Program attracts students between 12 and 18 from all points of the globe with an
impressive variety of programs backed by a technologically advanced English school system.
Visiting students immerse themselves in meaningful language and cultural experiences that
reflect the diversity and open-mindedness of Canadian life. |

We are pleased to welcome study abroad students to New Brunswick, Canada. Since 1998, over 1500 students from CCSC have participated in study abroad programs in New Brunswick. These programs allow students to live with a New Brunswick family, attend classes at a host New Brunswick high school and participate in extra curricular activities with New Brunswick students. The experience in New Brunswick will allow students to learn about the New Brunswick and Canadian culture, education system and family life, while being fully immersed in the English language.
New Brunswick looks forward to sharing its warm hospitality with all participants!

Host Schools
|
|
Each participating student will be placed in a New Brunswick high school, and will attend classes taught in the English language with other New Brunswick students. All students are expected to follow the rules and regulations of the host high school, and are encouraged to participate in any lunch-time or after school activities. This will allow students to mingle with New Brunswick students, practice English in a social setting, and make their new school and community feel like their home-away-from home.

Host Families
|
|
Host families are carefully screened and selected for each student, to ensure that the needs of the student are met. Host families are interested in learning about their new student and will likely ask questions about China, schools, family life, and hobbies. The host family understands that students are learning English, and that study abroad programs are meant to help students enhance their language skills. Students are encouraged to participate fully with their assigned host family. Families will want to share in the successes of the student, and help them through any difficult times they might encounter.

What to Bring
|
|
When preparing for the program in New Brunswick, please keep in mind the seasons you will experience. Therefore, students should bring shorts and t-shirts, pants, a light jacket, warm clothing like sweaters, jacket, gloves or mittens, a hat and boots. Being properly dressed is an important factor in being able to enjoy the many winter activities that New Brunswick has to offer.
Students must ensure that proper health insurance for the duration of the program in New Brunswick has been secured prior to departure.
Students should also bring along a photo album with pictures of their family, friends, community or activities that they enjoy. This item will help host families learn more about you, or you might also be called upon to make a short presentation in one of your New Brunswick classes!

What to Expect
|
|
Studying abroad will be an unforgettable experience. Atlantic Education International Inc. (AEI Inc.) works closely with CCSC, and with New Brunswick host schools in coordinating all aspects of the programs—from pre-arrival information for schools, host families, and students, to meeting participants at the airport, and consistent follow-up throughout the program.
To get the most out of the program, students should participate in host family, classroom activities and assignments, school and recreational activities. By participating in these activities, English language skills will be developed, friends will be made and a connection to the school and community will be formed.
The safety of each participant is very important. Therefore, all participants will be asked to complete personal information and medical information forms. These forms will enable the New Brunswick organizers to properly prepare host families and schools. Your cooperation in completing all necessary documentation is appreciated.
