Concord College of Sino-Canada Canadian Vice-Principal

Education Requirements:

  • Masters Degree in Education Administration and/or Curriculum

  • Five years administrative experience in Canadian education system

Duties

The Canadian Vice-Principal fills a critical role as the leader and administrator of the English Department of the School in working with both Chinese and Canadian colleagues, teachers, and agencies to ensure the mission of the School is fulfilled.

The position reports directly to the Chairman or Executive Director of the School as appropriate.

The major responsibilities are to work with others in the School administration to ensure the creation of an effective and efficient management organization focused on the mission of the School; to work with the Canadian teachers and the Chinese teachers of English assigned to the Department to ensure the learning needs of the students are met; and to encourage the Department teachers and other staff to work together as a team.

Chinese Government agencies have approved the School, as a Sino-Foreign institution, to provide Chinese students the opportunity to study an integrated curriculum, which incorporates both Chinese and Canadian content. This, in itself, creates additional administrative complexities and requires extensive consultation and collaboration between those charged with administrative responsibilities. It requires an appreciation for  of the laws and regulations governing the operation of a School in China and balancing these with the need to meet Canadian requirements and standards. It also requires that letters to persons or agencies outside the School or materials developed for publication, either through print or electronically, must reflect the fact that the School is a Sino-Foreign institution. All such letters and materials are, in the first instance, to be vetted by the Chairman or Executive Director.

The Vice-Principal is responsible for ensuring the Canadian requirements are met and to articulate these to the School. The position is the official contact with the New Brunswick Department of Education and its agency, Atlantic Education International Inc., (AEI). The Vice-Principal works closely with the General Manager of AEI on academic and other issues pertaining to the Canadian education program.

This is to be completed on a form approved by the School and provide for comment and signature by the teacher as well as by a senior School executive. Teachers on the first year of a contract are also to be evaluated before the completion of the first semester to meet the probationary requirements of the Employment Agreement;
(j) Arrange for a regular program of professional development activities which encourage sharing of best practice knowledge and skills between Canadian and Chinese teachers;
